Upcoming gadget: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play - "Playstation phone"

The Play will feature a 1GHz processor, with a capacitive touch screen and, of course, gaming controls. The phone will be running on the Android platform so, in addition to gaming, users will also benefit from the vast array of Android Market applications.

The Play will include preloaded games, but the main focus will be those games developed for the phone by the big gaming houses, presumably available in the Android Market.
The Snapdragon processor isn't going to make this phone any more of a powerhouse than other phones currently available so phone and game software developers are going to have to be very creative in order to differentiate this offering.

Main specs, as per Sony Ericsson:
  • Latest, fastest, Google Android™ smartphone platform (Gingerbread)
  • 4” multi-touch, 16 million color, scratch-resistant display
  • Voice Search for simple hands-free browsing
  • 5.1MP auto focus camera with LED flash
  • Music player, stereo speakers
  • 8GB micro SD (included), upgradable to 32GB
  • The first ever PlayStation® Certified smartphone with dedicated gaming keys, L/R shoulder and 4-symbol keys
  • Console-like gaming experience with superb stereo sound
  • Powered by Snapdragon, 1GHz CPU and the powerful Adreno 205 graphical processor, optimized for advanced gaming
